LHB: Same Story, Different Tune | Infrequently Noted

Interestingly, then, web-based services have routed around the difficulties of the plat for m to date to deliver apps that seemed well out of reach of HTML 4.01 as implemented by IE 6, but well, we re a plucky lot, aren t we? The most progress being made right now seems to be coming from a large software vendor in Cupertino with an OS-based plat for m play that absolutely needs the web to sparkle in order to drive adoption of their OS and hardware. . Like Linux, the web will probably lurch for ward this way for the for seeable future. The standards zealots smacked down the IE team so hard on content versioning that I don t think anyone else will have the testicular for titude to try again for a good while. It s down to the whole vision thing , and the web standards crowd doesn t seem to have any. It s about time someone took the punch bowl away from them once and for all. The open web needs real progress too badly to stall any longer. This entry was written by , posted on July 5, 200

Fishing on the Nestucca River | Travel Oregon Blog

What that means is, he hooked it, and then shoved the pole into my hands! I immediately knew I needed to start some upper arm exercises. After several minutes of letting the line run and reeling it in, punctuated with the guys yelling at me to keep the line taut, I finally got the steelhead close enough to the boat for them to net it. Close to eight pounds of beautiful silver and red fish, I had caught a buck.. I may be the only one that noticed it matched my nail polish. . (Note: I was not invited to bait, clean, or club, which was perfectly fine with me.) . I learned how to cast adequately, and since I didn’t have to be the one fixing the snagged lines over and over again,

Catfish Course Day #4, Goldfish?

It's all about adding tidbits to your catfish fishing repetoir to use in special situations, and I just gave you another one to put in the bank . Now, if you want something that's going to take your catfish fishing to a whole new level - you've got to try my Catfish Fishing Secret Weapon. I know you're probably tired of me bringing it up, but I'm only doing it because I have never seen anything so effective for swarming thousands of bait, and hundreds of catfish. . Did you know that catfish fishermen all over the country are using it year round? That's right - it works in the winter, spring, summer, and fall - with equally good results.
Hopefully this newsletter finds everyone happy after a summer of good water and excellent trout and smallmouth bass fishing . The nights have been getting colder giving away the fact that fall is here. Crowds in the mountains have shifted their focus from river recreation to fall leaves and their marvelous changing colors. This marks the end of the tube hatch on many of our rivers and none too soon I might add. All of these facts add up to the thrill that your favorite trout stream may not seem as crowded as it did this past summer. Gear wise, Fall is always the time of year that I go through my gear and break out the dreaded waders as the days of wet wading are

Now I’ve got a huge tub of oddball items I wish I’d never bought: plastic lacing in colors I’ll never use, materials that are too bulky to wrap around hooks, stuff that makes a fly sink when you want it to float, fabric that frays when you try to make wings out of it, beads that won’t fit on hooks, and feathers that look dead in the water. This will take effect in early May." Thanks Clark! I also had some reports of good striper fishing from the Indian River Inlet. Bill Sports Center (302-645-7654) reports good flounder fishing in the VFW slough at Indian River. He's weighed in some nice stripers from the Inlet as well. Delaware Bay has been real good on stripers with clam. Anglers have been limiting out on tautog offshore. Inshore tautog fishing is picking up. To the South of us....
The Fishing Hole

How to catch Bass AND then catch more, larger bass, more often, in more places, with more consistency, having a pro-active plan and approach, stacking the odds in your favor to succeed, catching more fish and enjoying the process, is what this basic guide is all about. . The hunter becomes the hunted – learn how a small change in your paradigm, thinking and approach can lead to bass-angling success! Start thinking like the watery hunter, become and understand the bass as a hunter. Observe, learn, follow, study and use its natural habit, preferences, patterns, habits, prey and choice of food, in your angling-strategy, and you will have some interesting fish-tales to tell. (None of them tall tales of course,  we hope!)… and yes, we may even learn something from the ones that get/got away! . So, without f

Tom Watjen and Unum

So, the big challenge is profitably growing the business in places that frankly didn t exist be for e, or if they did, they were fairly immature in terms of business. That is new territory to wander through, and we ve got a whole number of new initiatives we have begun to roll out. We need to be innovative and thought- provoking, to listen to our customers, and not be afraid to make some changes in the fundamentals of what we are doing to respond. I think we are doing well there, but you never relax because the markets, the customers, and the environment are changing. While we are doing all this, the competition doesn t take a day off either.
Trolling Jigs For Albacore - Throw the old tuna book away | Coastside Fishing Club

Would it not have made for a more exciting moment if all the gear got out, and now your son, father, brother all had fish hanging, screaming in both panic and pleasure as they battled this great fighting fish? There is only one thing better than a reel screaming after a jig strike, that is many reels screaming at the same time. . . Rods and positions . What has been (hopefully) affectionately nick named the Franko method by the largest fishing organisation in Northern Cali for nia (Coastside Fishing Club, www.coastside fishing club.com), starts with marking you re lines, and dedicating a rod to a permanent position. I use a piece of fluorescent trout leader tied with a uni knot to my main line, some guys use rubber bands, but the goal is to provide an exact distance mark so the team can free spool the gear out in a hurry, stopping at the mark and ha

Wally Wing Parachute - The Drake Fly Fishing Magazine - For Those Who Fish

There are a lot of folks (some of them well known "authorities" who've written many books) that say it doesn't matter which direction you wrap. I couldn't disagree more, and here's why: One of the common errors made tying parachutes is hackle that is too loose. If you wrap your hackle clockwise you're compounding this problem because when you tie off the hackle the thread is trying to loosen your wraps. This is compounded further by the fact that the barbs will be pointing toward you on clockwise wrapped hackle, causing the thread to grab onto those barbs and try even harder to loosen your hackle. If you always wrap counter-clockwise you eliminate one more stumbling block on the path t

But if there s nobody on the water, what is there to save? This boils down to saying, You can catch a halibut, but you can t go where they live. An ironic laugh bubbles up from his throat: It s perfectly sustainable! . Murray weathers the complaints and lets them break over the plates without comment. When she does offer a counterargument, it s to remind them that, with the MLPA process, fishermen are closely involved with the decision-making, and that even if they aren t entirely happy with the final marine boundaries, the system was democratic. I think they were trying to be fair, Dirks grumbles. But it wasn t fair. . Be for e paying the check, Murray offers everyone a peace o

Not only was I lucky to have grown up with parents that fostered a love of the outdoors, but Maine has outstanding fishing for a wide variety of species. The fishery is very dynamic...we have ponds, lakes, rivers streams and the ocean, so growing up and into my adult years, I ve wandered all over Maine in search of big fish! And I ve also been very lucky to have gone on some incredible fishing trips throughout the United States and the Caribbean. . . . . . Fishing in For t Lauderdale during the springtime is great; big game species ditch the north and head south for a few months, just like snowbirds.
